Three fundamental ideas were
foremost in our minds when
we were planning for our new
plant. First and foremost, the
operation had to lend itself to
the principal of "quality first".
From the raw materials used,
to the charging, blending,
conveying and packing of the
expander, we made sure the
components were of the
highest quality.
could turn our attention to the issue of quantity. In order to accommodate the ever growing demand for negative expander, we doubbled everything! 2 full sized ball mills with 2 charging stations each and two fully automated packing lines give us the ability to supply the industry with confidence.
The third fundamental issue was
a need for an ergonomic design of the plant, coupled with environmental responsibility. Automated equipment is used wherever possible, with an emphasis on packing operations, both to reduce or eliminate the work load on the packing operators as well as insure consistency and reliability to bag weight measurements. The entire operation (batching, loading, blending, conveying and packing of expander) is carried out in an environmentally and ergonomically friendly environment.
In our more than 60 years of operation, we have come to see great changes in the manufacturing of negative expander. From the early days when everything was done by hand and with inconsistent quality, to the current day, where we have the advantages of automation and quality programs. Hammond Expanders is proud to have the technology, and eager to bring the benefits of our state of the art plant to the battery manufacturer.
Second, having addressed quality, we
