What separates Hammond Expanders from the rest?
To answer that question one must go back over 60 years in time.
Shortly after the advent of Hammond Lead Products (a division of Hammond Group Inc.), a need to provide the lead-acid battery industry with reliable, high performing negative expanders was realized. With strong roots in chemical engineering, the operators of Hammond Lead knew they were well suited for the task.
Company History
More than half a century later, Hammond continues to lead the industry in expander research and development. Realizing an ever changing world of technical advancements in automotive and industrial battery applications and requirements, Hammond is dedicated to fulfilling the industry's needs by offering a product line consisting of well over 70 different formulations for industrial and automotive lead-acid battery applications.
First and foremost, the company knew that any and all expander formulations of quality had to be grounded with firm scientific research. A relationship soon developed with Indiana University to study and develop negative expanders. Research gained from the cooperative effort has directly influenced present day expander theory and formulations.
